10 Favorite Automotive Magazines

While Cars for Girls is a great resource for women who are interested in vehicles, who want to learn more about cars in general or who need information concerning maintenance and auto repair, there are also some great magazines and subscriber websites which supplement Cars for Girls quite nicely.  I always say information is power; the more you learn, the more you know and the more you know, the more you can do and the more you can do, the more fun you’ll have!

That said, when it comes to more automotive knowledge and more fun, here are 10 of my personal favorite automotive magazines, in random order:

Lowrider

Lowrider is a magazine that’s absolutely worth the subscription cost, especially if you’re into modifying, customizing, car shows and events.  Don’t let the scantily clad women scare you off - this is a magazine that has great how-to guides for customizations, lots of event information and it features awesome photos.

Motor Trend

Motor Trend is a top automotive authority which features quite a lot of industry news, automotive reviews, information on concept cars and much more.

Road & Track

Road & Track focuses on racing coverage, such as NASCAR, Formula 1 and other racing events, design, engineering, comparison tests and automotive reviews and reports.  It also offers up some technical discussions, as well.

Car and Driver

Car and Driver is probably the world’s most popular automotive magazine. It offers informative reviews, vehicle test results, automotive news, buying guides and more.

Super Street

This magazine caters to my love of learning about street racing, drifting, personalization and performance of compact cars. There’s a lot of good technical information here as well as nice coverage of the growing popularity of aftermarket in performance compact cars.   I can usually find awesome information pertaining to my Jetta obsession in Super Street.

Automobile

Automobile features news on the automotive industry and markets, information on green vehicles, events, road tests, racing, collectible cars and more.  I especially enjoy their features on the older classics.

American Driver

For a more refined look into the lifestyle and luxury of the car enthusiast, American Driver offers a lot of nice photos and entertaining articles about cars and the folks who own them, as well as the best scenic drives and travel, places to visit, entertainment, dining and more.

Hot Rod

Hot Rods and lots of them, are the main focus behind Hot Rod magazine.  Also included are articles on what makes a rodder lifestyle as well as interviews, vehicle reviews, modifications, maintenance and repair.

AutoWeek

AutoWeek packs a lot of industry news, reviews, green info, photos, racing, auto shows and information on events into a nice publication.  I especially enjoy their photos and car reviews.

Triumph World

Although a personal favorite and probably not for everyone, I’ve included the Britain published Triumph World in this list to show that there is a car magazine for almost every car enthusiast, from those like me who have a love for the historical insights and restoration of Triumphs, to others who may enjoy Mini Cars, Corvettes, Mustangs or something completely different.

I hope you find my list helpful as you pursue further information on automobiles and the automobile industry in general.  If you have a car magazine you would like to recommend, I’d love to know what it is, so leave me a comment and share your favorites!

  1. I am a big fan of road and track. One of my all time favorite issues was the august 08 magazine. The cover story was the 10 hottest cars per gallon. The list was surprising and valuable for people that want high performance along with high miles per gallon. The august 2008 issue can still be found at newsstands.

  2. [...] of different types, like Car & Driver, Hot Rod, Motor Trend, Road & Track and Low Rider and many more.
