Awesome Automotive Links

I don’t know about you, but I’m glad it’s Friday!  Today, I thought I would share some links and info on a few of my favorite automotive sites around the web there’s probably something for everybody!

Cost 2 Drive

Cost 2 Drive (Costtodrive.com) is a handy tool I use when I’m planning out road trips and want to know how much it’s going to cost me in fuel to get me from here to there.  While it’s not an exact science, it’s a great way to approximate the cost for driving routes and has so far given me good results every time I’ve used it.  For example, if I want to find out approximately how much it will cost me to drive from where I live to Council Bluffs, Iowa, I plug in my start and destination areas, the year, make and model of my vehicle, and the generator goes to work.  Not only does it tell me how much I can expect to pay, but also how many miles I’ll be driving and how long I can expect my drive time to be.  It also offers a handy Google map of the best route to take.

While CosttoDrive.com can’t provide the exact cost for driving a route because costs vary based on a few factors such as how fast you drive, driving conditions and the condition of your vehicle, it still offers a great ballpark figure and is an application I use often.

Vespa Scooters

I love the Vespa  – in fact, I’ve been crazy about them for the last few years and keep telling myself that one of these days I’m going to buy a hot pink one and scoot around town in the spring and summer, just for fun.  I know I could buy a motorcycle, but after owning a dirt bike in my younger years, these days I want something a little sportier for the street.   Scooters get great gas mileage, too!

To my delight, Vespa has just rolled out a very cool website, which features a Google map-based ‘Community Rides’ area that helps scooter commuters or tourers find, share, rate, download and comment on new riding routes.  Scoot On!

Walter P. Chrysler Museum & Gift Shop

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan and if you’ve never stopped by or planned a vacation to visit, you’re missing a real treat.   This museum boasts three levels, approximately 55,000 square feet and sits on 10 acres!  It offers over 65 vehicles which have been restored to their original condition (including a 1903 Rambler Model “C” and a 1999 Plymouth Prowler), interactive exhibits and more. What’s even just as awesome is the museum offers a fantastic gift shop that’s available online, which offers great gifts for every pocketbook for the auto enthusiast in your life even you!

I’m always looking at the website gift shop online to see what’s new.  The gift shop is stocked with exclusive, hard-to-find and affordable Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Hemi, Hudson, Mopar, Plymouth, Viper and retro logo collectibles and souvenirs. The shop also features the Chrysler Design Gallery – die-cast models and original desktop sculptures from the Chrysler Design Studios.

You can shop online for books, apparel, collectibles, jewelry, key chains, posters, DVD’s, and more.   What’s even better is that beginning on Saturday, November 15 and running through December 30, all merchandise will be discounted 10 to 50 percent off.

Ready? Set. Shop!
