Thanks for stopping by my blog, I didn’t mean to come off as harsh on yours. I just get a little wary of the girls who consider seat covers and the like to be “car modifications.” (I think that’s more personal touches than mods… From the sound of it, you know a lot more than the average, so I’m sure you know what I mean.)

My hubby’s been great and supportive when it comes to my learning, and I’ve come a long way to where I can hold my own in a conversation. (Think technical arguments about the benefits of turbo charging vs. super charging, what suspension mods are best and in what order to go about making improvements… I also recall one great discussion about drift angles. Ah, my proud moments!) And to think, it all started when he made me change the spark plugs on my little Miata…

Tina: Where are the pics of that ’66 Impala? She sounds pretty! I adore old muscle cars, but I could never drive one. Way too big for me, but I’ll admire them for sure. Sadly, I’m not very mechanically inclined, and cars are more a hobby for me than anything else.

I tend to get defensive because many of the girls where I live truly don’t know what they’re talking about and it’s just a sad attempt to impress some guy with a better car than theirs. Kind of why I love driving our S2k a lot. The guys get all slack jawed when they realize it’s a modded sports car driven by a chick. Who can, subsequently, name off each and every mod done as well as quite a few facts about the car itself. (And thus prove it’s not just her husband’s car, it’s hers too.) Hope you can understand that.

Oh, and motocross sounds fun. I’m working towards getting a sport bike… Told my husband it’s less of a hassle to prove I know what I’m talking about with a bike than a car. Girls + bikes = instant coolness.

This is a great idea for a blog. I feel so undereducated regarding anything to do with cars. It seems like whenever I ask for information regarding simple repairs or maintenance, my husband, brother,or dad will just do the work instead of giving me an answer. Great blog idea. My husband is an auto tech actually so I tend to push this stuff off on him, but now we need to buy tires and I am much more frugal than him. I know we want decent and safe tires, but I think some of the things he is saying leans more towards a “look” thing also and is adding to the cost of what we are looking at. Would love to see an article on how to pick out tires and what are the more important things to look at vs. the stylish things.

I love your blog. My brother is a gearhead, so I’ve picked up a few things from him, but I’d like to learn more. I can do general maintenance like checking fluids and tire pressure, but that’s about it. I think next I’ll have to learn to change my oil and filters.

I also think it’s funny when boys get so out-of-proportion impressed by a girl knowing her engine size or such. It’s always fun when I stop by an auto store to pick up a part by myself and rattle off my car particulars.

Oh! My son has been begging us for one of these. His birthday is coming up in September too and this would be perfect for him. My daughter has one but it was a Christmas give from their grandfather (he got it free as a “thank you” from his company). So since last December that is all we hear from him is how much he wishes he had an Ipod too and my daughter always freaks out on him when he wants to borrow it. We’d lov to get him one of his own. Good for you. My daddy is a mechanic, so I know more than most chicks about cars. I grew up handing him tools out in the garage so he wouldn’t have to come out from under the car he was working on every time he need a 3/8″ instead of a 1/2″ socket.

When I sold my first car in highschool, I couldn’t believe all the gals whose first (and seemingly most important) questions was, “What color is it?” I’m like, you have got to be kidding me.

awesome! omg! Last week a horrific storm hit and flooded our basement. My beloved nano was a victim I miss it so much and the insurance will not cover everything that was lost. You think it will never happen to you and then in a second it does and everything changes.

Everybody who hasn’t checked their tire pressure in the last six months, when you next get gas ask the mechanic to do it for you(tip maybe five bucks) or get a tire pressure gauge and ask someone to teach you. If you purchased you car from a dealer anybody in service will show you for free. Just ask the service writer and they will get a technician to show you. You may even improve your gas mileage!

Your Cars for Girls ebook is awesome. One time when I bought a car, I drove a really hard bargain. I kept telling them they had a lot of cars on the lot. They said that was because they sold a lot of cars. I told them it was costing them a lot of money to have all that inventory sitting there. I got them to make the deal on the skinny and within 2 months the dealership went out of business. My dh said it was because I drove too hard a bargain. lol

I’d love to win the ipod. We just buried my Mom on our wedding anniversary and I’ve not felt very celebratory. My birthday is in 2 weeks also. I have 2 teen daughters with all that comes with that also. I’d love to plug in to my ipod and zone out for a bit.

Very informative site. My lexus RX has been sitting alot while I travelled and I have flat spots on my tires. The tires have alot of tread, but they tend to want to hydroplane. It is frustrating. I did research and found that Michelin LTX are the best tires for it but what an eye opener on the price of 4. I need to do all 4 at once for safety. Anyhow, your article on tires was helpful. I’ve never had an Ipod EVER! I might be the only person on this planet that still hasn’t jumped on the apple band- wagon. I remember my sister got an ipod for christmas when they first came out.. What did I get? mmm I can’t remember, thanks mom and dad! lol. I have never even used an ipod. I still carry my bum CD player around with me everywhere I even bought white headphones so people think I have an ipod! lol. If I got an Ipod, I would probably have to read the instructions and hope that my head doesnt explode from the technological upgrade.

Anyways I adore this site I think its a good community for women, even if you don’t have a car. Thanks for making it happen, girl power!

Thank you for the great site. When its car shopping time for us, the salesman always smiles at me and explains about upholstry choices while reserving the manly cartalk for hubby. Funny because hubby reacts to surface features like seat adjustment and paint choices while I delve into turn radius and engine size.
The iPod is a great prize choice. There is so little time left for reading anymore. I download audiobooks and listen while driving which reduces traffic stress and the impulse to use the cell phone.

I need this! I have one of the original design Ipod Shuffles, but it’s having problems. It will only shuffle (not play straight through) and the volume is really low (even when cranked). I have some hearing loss, so I can’t always hear the songs. I walk 2 miles a day with my IPOD.
