It’s Wednesday and once again time for me to help you find some of the coolest automotive news and websites on the Internet.  Today, there’s a little something for everyone, so I hope you find something interesting, funny or just plain awesome in your interweb travels.

From crime reporter to crime victim: While Orlando Sentinel reporter Susan Jacobson was working out at her local gym, thieves were in the parking lot smashing her driver’s-side window and stealing her purse from the trunk of her car.  She says that in just 16 minutes, the bad guys managed to rack up more than $900 on her credit cards. They have the low down on the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid.  I almost wrote about this car the other day, but I found myself seriously struggling, so a big thanks to Car Envy for picking up the slack on my part and because they say the same thing I found myself thinking, Porsche…Yes! Fuel Efficient…Yes! Dang!…This is one ugly car.

Reuters reports that a record number of car dealerships closed in 2008 – 881 to be exact – or approximately 4.2 percent of the country’s 20,084 auto dealerships.

Newsweek says that in the face of sluggish sales for new cars, used vehicles are speeding off the lots in almost record numbers.

Is it possible to build a 70mpg car out of a 1971 VW Rabbit and all for about $7,000?  Believe it or not, it might be worth a shot
