Family Friendly Kia Rondo Tops 10 Most Researched SUV’s

Despite gas fuel hikes and rising prices, it seems SUV’s and crossover vehicles are still very much in demand.

Despite the sale of hybrids and other fuel efficient vehicles, a recent study by Carfax, revealed that consumer interest in SUV’s and crossover vehicles hasn’t waned and both remain a popular vehicle on the road.

Carfax acknowledged that there’s been an increase in consumer activity over the last year regarding SUVs and crossover vehicles, some by as much as 3000 percent and they add that consumers are more interested in these vehicles if there is a clear history and they’re offered at a fair price.

According to Larry Gamache, communication director at Carfax:

”People are definitely looking at SUVs again. They’re safe, practical cars and smart shoppers are searching for great deals.

According to the study, ten SUV and crossover vehicles had at least nine times more consumer activity on the Carfax website than a year ago with the family friendly Kia Rondo making the top of the list with a whopping increase of 3600%.

Frankly, I’m not at all surprised that the Kia Rondo grabbed the top spot on the list, especially since it was named 2008 Best Value family vehicle by both Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com in their annual list of Best Family Cars earlier this year.  Parents really like the optional third row seating, which allows seating for up to 7 passengers, as well as split-folding rear seats, hidden storage within the cargo area and front and rear power outlets for DVD and MP3 players.  Those with small children noted that installing car seats in the Rondo seemed much easier than installing them in other comparable vehicles, which was a big advantage, as well.  Safety features are also a huge selling point for the Rondo; in government crash test ratings, it earned a perfect five stars out of five in front impacts for both driver and passenger, while in side-impact testing, it received five and four stars for front and rear passengers.

Listed below are the ten most popular SUVs and crossover vehicles researched by consumers at Carfax.com, based on their year-over-year increases:

1. Kia Rondo – 3600%
2. Jeep Patriot – 2477%
3. Buick Enclave – 2242%
4. Mazda Cx-9 – 1631%
5. Land Rover LR2 – 1166%
6. Saturn Outlook 1116%
7. Lincoln MKX 1040%
8. Suzuki SX4 1001%
9. Hyundai Tucson 910%
10. GMC Acadia – 906%
