Fighting City Hall

You know, I get quite a lot of things in my email on a daily basis and while some of its spam, the emails and pass-alongs I get from readers of Cars for Girls are some of the best – they range from downright knee-slappin’ funny (thanks Carla K. for the cartoon yesterday morning – it made my day!) to the most-original (a nod to Brian R. for the recipe on how to bake a beef roast on a car engine) to the sweet and low-down (thanks Randi R. for passing along the awesome link to some of the sweetest car cakes ever baked). Now and then, I also get emails from readers who want to know whether I think something they might have read on the internet could possibly be true (or not), or what my opinion may be on something they’ve found.

On Tuesday, Tonya A. sent me an email link to a company she found online which promised drivers’ could actually be paid for fighting their parking tickets, so I followed up and thought it deserved its own little blog post.

The company, parkingticket.com, which is a subsidiary of Parking Survival Experts, guarantees unfair parking tickets will be dismissed (or reduced) and if not, motorists receive 100% of their deposit back in return, plus an additional $10.00.  Yes, you read that right – there is a fee for this service, which is solely determined by the cost of the ticket.  In their example, if your ticket is $115.00, you pay $57.50 for them to fight the ticket for you.  If their attempts don’t get your ticket dismissed or at the least reduced, you’ll get your full deposit and an extra $10.00 in return.

Motorists can fight their tickets online or over the phone and they also have the option of simply paying a parking ticket online, too.  While most of the larger metropolitan areas seem to be represented (New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Louis, Seattle, etc.), the program may not be available in your particular area, so you’ll need to visit the website for more detailed information.

The website also notes that if the parking ticket also led to the towing of your vehicle and the ticket is dismissed, you may also be able to receive a full refund for towing fees.

I haven’t tried this service and so I can’t recommend it and I don’t know anyone personally who has used it, so if you’re familiar with parkingtickets.com, please leave me a comment and let me know if it worked for you.
