First Look: Porsche Panamera
Although scheduled to officially make its debut at the March 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Panamera Online Magazine is offering a peak into what is to become the newest member of the Porsche family - the Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo.
I don’t know about you, but I love new things and of course, new cars are no exception, which is why I was so excited to discover a glimpse of Porsche’s most newest arrival, the Panamera Gran Turismo. According to Porsche, the first official press photo isn’t due to be released until sometime later this year, however Panamera Online is offering a sneak peek into the sleek and highly anticipated four-door sedan, which will be built in Leipzig, Germany. According to the latest information, the Panamera Gran Turismo will have the capacity to seat four adults comfortably, all thanks to a unique space concept and superior driving dynamics.
Market launch of the Panamera is scheduled to begin in the late summer and early fall of next year.
What’s even more exciting is that green lovers will also have something to look forward to since Porsche also has plans to release a hybrid version of the Panamera using the components of the Cayenne Hybrid. The full hybrid system is said to consist of the battery unit positioned in the luggage compartment and the hybrid module between the engine and transmission comprising an additional clutch and the electric motor.
Some experts believe the Porsche Panamera will have some stiff competition since it will be among the Aston Martin Rapide, BMW 8-Series, Mercedes CLS and perhaps even the VW Passat Coupe, all fighting for our attention.
Edmunds reports that the base model will come arrive with a sticker price of $127,000.00 and although the V8 will be available next year, the V6 model won’t be available until 2010. Despite the high price, Porsche plans on moving at least 20,000 of the Panamera’s annually.
