Gear Up for the Los Angeles Auto Show
Get ready to start your engines, ladies! If you’re in the market for a brand new car or want to get a first look at what the auto makers have in store, there’s no better place to be than the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show!
This year, the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show (open to the public from November 21 through November 30) will feature more than 20 world premieres of production and/or concept vehicles from global automakers. So far, confirmed world debuts from Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Lamborghini, Lincoln, Lexus, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, Porsche and Volkswagen are signed up and ready to roll out!
Since I can’t be there in person, I’m really looking forward to seeing some first photos, especially of the Ferrari California. I’m also looking forward to finding out who will go home with the 2009 Green Car of the Year award. The winner will be announced on November 20, which is a press-only day. The Green Car of the Year award began in 2005 and is designed to recognize environmental achievement in the automotive industry. After considering scores of new vehicle models that raise the bar in environmental performance, five automobile nominees will be identified in advance of the press conference. Last year, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid rolled away the winner, while the 2007 winner was the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the inaugural 2006 award went to the Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
According to the press release, those confirmed for the show include Nissan’s next generation Z and the redesigned Ford Mustang. The press release goes on to note that In addition to the record number of world debuts, an expected 16 North American debuts have already been scheduled, including Honda’s all-new hybrid vehicle concept, the Insight and the Ferrari California, a retractable hardtop convertible.
In addition to the major debuts, this year’s show will highlight the latest “green” auto technology with significant alternative fuel vehicle news and Green Car Journal will be on hand to reveal the winner of the “Green Car of The Year Award.”
The 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is located at the junction of the I-10-Santa Monica and the 110-Harbor Freeways. The address is:
1201 S. Figueroa Street
Los Angeles, CA 90015
