Hi Sativa: There are some bridges that really give me anxiety, so I can sympathise. Depending on how I'm feeling on any given day, I may or may not take the suspension bridge I mentioned in my post - it's very narrow and there's just no place to pull over if a car problem suddenly occurs - and when it does, the bridge is backed up for hours on end.

Thanks for the reminder about the Emergency Hammer!

Melissa: We have flooding here that is unbelievable at times - just last month it was so bad the area was declared a disaster by the Governor and the President. I agree - people should never, ever attempt to drive through flooded areas!

Amy: I agree! Trying to remain calm is probably the one thing that will really help save lives the most. It;s hard to think clearly when we panic - epsecially when kids are involved. Stay safe! :)

Hi Lucy: Check out the Emergency Tool that Sativa recommended. It's probably much safer than a brick! ;)

Thanks for the great advice! My immediate reaction in situations like this is to FREAK OUT, so I really need all the help I can get. ;)

Lol, maybe I should keep a brick in the glove compartment or something! =D Or better yet get a boat-car or an aquada!

Great advice! Here in Arizona, during the monsoon season, our usually dry creek beds can quickly become inundated with floodwater. We now have a "stupid motorist law" for people who cross these washes. These tips could definitely save some lives!

GREAT POST!

I HAVE A MASSIVE FEAR OF GOING OFF A BRIDGE. ONES THAT ARE REALLY HIGH & LONG GIVE ME ANXIETY ATTACKS.

ALSO, I HAVE ONE OF THOSE LITTLE CAR TOOL THINGS THAT IS SUPPOSE TO ENABLE YOU TO BREAK OUT A WINDOW EASY, AND CUT YOUR SEAT BELT, IF NEEDED. OF COURSE, HOW WELL IT WORKS REMAINS TO BE SEEN... HOPEFULLY, I'LL NEVER HAVE TO FIND OUT.
