As I was flipping through the pages of my August Motor Trend magazine, I noticed an advertisement for WeatherTech (offered by MacNeil Automotive Products Limited).  However it wasn’t the idea of purchasing all weather floor mats or cargo liners that made an impression on me.

Founder and CEO, Davide MacNeil has a unique and down to earth perspective on his business.  MacNeil believes that the exporting of American jobs is a trend that needs to be stopped and reversed.  He believes that they’re doing their part for the American economy, stating that his philosophy is “that if my neighbor doesn’t have a job, sooner or later I won’t have a job either.”

With the economy taking such a drastic turn for the worst, many businesses have struggled to remain successful.  Companies have begun taking every imaginable step to cut costs.  However at a time when things got tough, in 2007 the company transferred all of their floor mat manufacturing back to the United States.  The reason for this you might wonder?  They were content with a company in England making them; however they believed that by using American technology, a better floor mat would be manufactured for their customers.

I also discovered that the raw materials that make up their All-Weather Floor Mats, FloorLiners, Cargo Liners and Mud flaps are manufactured at several U.S. locations, including the city I currently live in, Wichita, KS.

MacNeil says they’re very aware of sustainability and their responsibility to the environment; and they’re proactive in controlling waste and recycling of all the unused raw materials while still offering their customers quality products.  They’re passionate about supporting the American economy and preserving the American industrial infrastructure, which speaks volumes if you’re looking for a product made in the states.
