Nascar on DirecTV

The following is a guest post from SatelliteTVGuru.net which is a site that covers Satellite TV and Dish Network news.

I get a lot of questions from Nascar fans asking how they can watch races on TV, and what television service would be best for doing so. Although you can watch Nascar just over the air, I would recommend DirecTV for most die hard Nascar fans. out there.

The reason for this is that DirecTV offers something called Nascar Hotpass. Nascar Hotpass is free to all DirecTV subscribers, meaning you don’t need a special subscription to watch it, so even if you have the most basic plan your good to go. With Nascar Hotpass you get 4 dedicated channels covering Nascar 24 hours a day, seven days a week in full HD.

Channels 795 to 798 give you a different vantage point for each race because each channel is dedicated to covering a different driver. On each channel you’ll see the network broadcast of the race plus the video from that drivers in-car camera.

The 2009 Nascar season continues until November so if you have DirecTV but haven’t been using this free service you still have a good 4 months to enjoy. Nascar then starts back up again in 2010 with the Daytona 500 and I would assume DirecTV would continue the service then.

An alternative to watching Nascar on DirecTV is to watch the races online through the official Nascar site. You can now watch lap by lap video of the most recent race. On top of this you can watch just the highlights, flags and lead changes for each race. Nascar also offeres a premium online video service called TrackPass that allows you to watch your favorite driver live from 3 different camera angles adding an entirely new in depth experience for fans.
