There are several reasons now is a great time to buy a car from a dealership. First and foremost it’s the end of the month. The car business runs on a thirty day cycle and the dealer is looking to get as many car sales in before the month closes. The factory posts which dealer sells the most cars and the managers want to be number one in their market for volume. Aside from bragging rites the managers are looking to get any profit they can into the month, that affects their pay. This means that you can get a better deal on the car at the end of the month.

Another great reason is that new models will be landing on the dealer’s doorstep as early as September. This varies by the manufacturer and the model. As soon as the new models land everything on the ground becomes a year older. Now is the time to move the 2008′s. If the new 2009 models are coming in September the goal is to have as many current year cars gone by the end of August. You may not get your first color choice, or the exact equipment you want, but you can certainly name your price. Especially if there is a large volume of a certain model in stock.

Do not be seduced by price alone. You have to live with this purchase for along time. Make sure the car fits your needs. Ask yourself if the seats are comfortable. Does it have good visibility? How does it drive in bad weather? Are there any special end of year rebates or programs?

Remember, if you don’t have a good feeling about the deal, or the people at the store, simply stand up, tell them you have to leave, and walk away. You are the buyer and you are in control. She who has the gold makes the rules.
