Top 10 Most Commonly Stolen Vehicles in 2009
While you may be surprised to see which cars & trucks made the most wanted list by thieves, these older vehicles sometimes referred to as “beaters” actually provide the best market for stolen parts, making them an easy target.
Most thieves quickly resell the car without a title or strip it down and sell the parts to various salvage yards across the country, and parts from stolen vehicles can also turn up on eBay and Craigslist, too.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) Auto Theft Study, the vehicles listed below were among the most stolen vehicles in 2009 (studies are based on reports given by the Nation Crime Information Center).
Here are the Top 10 Most Commonly Stolen Vehicles of 2009, as reported by the NICB, listed by make and model year:
1. Honda Civic (1995)
2. Honda Accord (1991)
3. Toyota Camry (1989)
4. Ford F-150 (1997)
5. Chevrolet C/K (1994)
6. Acura Integra (1994)
7. Dodge Ram Pickup (2004)
8. Nissan Sentra (1994)
9. Toyota Pickup (1988)
10. Toyota Corolla (2007)

I’m so over seeing the Honda Civic on that list. As long as that car remains at the top of the list (never mind being in the top 10) I will never get a decent break on my car insurance. That ranking has been a thorn in my side for 13 years and 2 Honda Civics.
