According to Car and Driver, the following cars are currently the top 10 most fuel efficient vehicles in the United States. They cite that it’s increasingly difficult to build fuel efficient vehicles because current safety and emissions technologies add weight, which is a primary nemesis of fuel economy. They also note that Hybrid technology and low mass are the most cost-effective strategies to better fuel economy, so their top 10 most fuel efficient vehicles are comprised of one or both. No surprise here that the Toyota Prius nabbed the number one spot on the list. Its low price and unbeatable fuel economy can’t be beat yet.
