Top 10 Most Stolen Cars of 2007
A few weeks ago, I wrote 5 Ways to Prevent Vehicle Theft and in doing so, mentioned that three people I know have all had their cars stolen within the last two months. What I neglected to mention in that post was that all of the cars stolen were older models. I did give it some thought and discussed this with friends, all of us agreeing on how odd it was that the cars weren’t flashy, new rides, but instead were older, had accumulated a lot of miles and weren’t in the most pristine condition. Nice cars, certainly, but not cars I would ever think could be serious contenders for car thieves – at least not to extent that it’s been happening in my area, anyway.
Boy was I wrong.
Last week, the National Insurance Crime Bureau released its Hot Wheels 2008 auto theft report for stolen vehicles in 2007, and wouldn’t you know, models at least 20 years old had made the top of the list. The Bureau cites the reason is simply because vehicles which sold well years ago now require replacement parts, which are hard to find and can also be used in various models.
According to Jack Nerad, who is executive editorial director and executive market analyst at Kelly Blue Book:
“Parts of new cars are not as desired as older models. Look at this as like a wish list of professional car thieves. Organized gangs, and there are a lot of them, are pretty methodical about what they want to steal.”

Truly, I don’t think there is a genuinely safe place, anymore. Safer, perhaps, but not entirely crime free, so remember to lock your doors, install an alarm, park in well lit areas and practice other ways to prevent vehicle theft.

My friend had his car stolen too. And the guys who stole used it for a joy ride which ended in a crash. My friend said they took his car out of all the others in the neighborhood simply because they knew how to hot wire his.
I don’t remember what model it was now because he only had it for 1 week when it got stolen.
My boyfriend’s car was stolen and guess what…it was a 98 honda civic. of course they stole his because it was all riced out. it was found two days later completely stripped, i mean COMPLETELY. even the visors. the only thing they couldn’t get were the rims because there was a locking thingy on them. if you want look at pictures of what car theives do…go to:
