Travel Deals in Abundance on Cyber Monday
Welcome to Cyber Monday, the day people return to work and continue their holiday shopping from their office computers.
According to a recent survey, about 69 million people plan to look for online deals today (including yours truly!) and the hotel and travel industry is hoping to also snag some of your business by offering vacation deals that are only available for booking for a short period.
USA Today reported last week that almost 90 percent of retailers plan to offer up some sort of Cyber Monday deals and discounts, and while steep discounts on hotel stays will be available, there could be a catch or two, but if you’re planning a vacation for next year – or a get-away or family trip during the holiday season – now is a great time to check out accommodation and travel bargains.
Here are a few hotel and accommodation deals I’ve found as of Sunday evening, before my deadline for this post:
- James Hotel – Chicago
The James Hotel in Chicago is running a 2009 Cyber Monday hotel special. Shoppers who visit The James online and purchase a James Credit Certificate today will receive an additional James Credit Certificate of equal value (certificates available up to $500 value).
This special is only available to order on Monday, November 30.
Visit JamesHotels.com for more details and to purchase credits.
- Starwood Hotels
Today, Starwood Hotels offers a 3-day sale for 50 of its resorts. You can save up to 45% off regular rates, but you must book your vacation online on the Starwood’s website to take advantage of the special rates. Also, the offer is only good at specific resorts and only during specific periods, through April 30, 2010.
Visit the website for more details by clicking here.
- Red Roof Inn
Currently, the Red Roof Inn is offering some fairly good savings on holiday accommodation packages, such as 40% off regular rates at Myrtle Beach Market Commons Red Roof Inn and Suites, good now through December 31, 2009. Visit RedRoof.com for more details.
- Ramada Inn
The Ramada Inn at various locations has a lot of good package deals, and special promotions. Visit Ramada.com for more information.
- Travelocity
At Travelocity, you can save up to 40% and reserve accommodations for as low as $49.00. Click here to visit the website for details on offers and more information.
- Omni Hotels
The Omni offers special rates and promotions that are worth checking into, such as the Holiday Spirit and Sprinkles package, which allows you to receive 50% off accommodations when you stay two consecutive nights. This offer is valid through December 28, 2009. Also available is a romantic get-away for two with rates starting at $136.00/night, which includes champagne, a French toast breakfast and a late check-out at your request. Visit OmniHotels.com for more details and information.
I’m sure there will be many more deals and possibly better bargains today at various hotel chains throughout the country and beyond, so if you’re planning a vacation in your future, or this holiday season, your best bet is to choose a hotel you like, visit the website and see if they’re offering any good deals for today. Also, don’t forget to check out whether your local car rental agencies are also offering deals and discounts for holiday travel, as well.
Happy shopping!
