What’s Your Dream Car?

We all have our guilty pleasures and I’m no different.  While I love an American muscle car and have owned quite a few (including a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a 442 Rocket engine), I admit I have an aversion to the 1997 VW Jetta that was featured in the film, “Fast and The Furious.”

As far as I know, the Jetta was purchased by actor Frankie Muniz (“Malcolm in the Middle”) a few years ago, but whether or not he still has it I can’t be sure and it doesn’t much matter because sadly, I would never be able to afford that car, anyway.

Some day, I hope to be able to buy a 1997 Jetta of my own and completely overhaul it, down to the Konig Tantrum custom white wheels, although by then, certain parts will be hard if not impossible to find, so I’ll probably end up having to sacrifice something for something else, which is okay – I mean, a little less of this and a little more of that means a more unique ride for me.

I rarely talk about my 1966 Chevy Impala, which was recently sold to a private buyer.  I hated to part with the “Irish Maiden” – in fact – I cried over the sale for days, but the frame was rusting out and it was time to move on to something new.  I still miss her and think about her every day and maybe one day I’ll get lucky enough to buy her back, but for now I’m looking for another project car; something I can really sink my teeth into and get fired up about – and lately I’ve been thinking an awful lot about that Jetta.  Unfortunately, I know I simply can’t afford a Jetta (much less find a 1997 or 1998 model year without a lot of searching) and modifying it isn’t it my budget right now either, so I’m waiting for something to catch my eye; something that I feel comfortable working on and that I can visualize as being totally awesome inside and out when it’s done.

We all have dreams of our perfect ride; the color, what it would look like, how we would modify it if only we had the chance (and the cash!).  So now that you know the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta is my guilty pleasure, let’s have a little fun.  What’s the car of your dreams?
